The vineyards around Lake Skadar have been known since Roman times, and numerous stories and legends testify to the grapes and wine from Crmnica. Vranac was created in Montenegro as a metaphor for strong and noble wine. Vranac is today the most popular and most consumed Montenegrin wine. History takes us to the time of the young Montenegrin prince Nikola Petrović, who was educated in Paris all his life and who was the first to recognize the potential and possibilities of this climate for wine production. Prince Nikola expressed his will that every soldier from the place where the grape vine thrives should plant two hundred vines.
