In the southern part of Montenegro we have Šarsko and Skadarsko Jezero, and in the northwestern part, Crno Jezero, which, together with the other lakes of the Durmitor region, represents the most brilliant string of nature's pearls and the most recognizable symbol of the Durmitor National Park.
On the way from Podgorica to the north, surrounded by unique rainforests, there is Lake Biograd. The surprises certainly don't stop there, if you move further towards the extreme north-east of Montenegro, you will come across another jewel that nature has gifted to this small but magical country.
The city of Plav is located along the shores of the lake of the same name.
The entire region of Plav is situated at the foot of the mountainous Prokletije, which nature has gifted with incredible beauty.
Lake Plav is the second largest and most beautiful glacial lake in the former Yugoslavia. Apart from Plavsko, in these areas ideal for hiking and mountain biking, there are a large number of mountain lakes, the most beautiful of which are "Hridsko" and "Visitorsko", which also includes a floating island.
Damn it
In addition to mountain ranges and lakes, there are also karst springs in these regions, the most beautiful of which are "Alipašini izvori" and "Oko Skakavica", mountaineering trails and terrains with the highest peaks in Montenegro.
Ali Pasha's sources
These regions are known for a very large number of expats, most of whom live in the USA.
Every year on the second of August, the residents of this region organize traditional gatherings at Ali Pasha's springs, which are usually attended by a large number of emigrants originating from these regions from all over the world.
We sincerely thank our dear friend Sead Jasavić for the photos, without which the presentation of these beautiful regions on Montenegro.com would not be possible.
