In this book, Catalina Milovich, a descendant of our first settlers to these parts of the world, describes the origin, development of the colony and the overall life of the Montenegrins in the province of Chako (Ćako) from the moment they first set foot on the soil of this distant land until today. The book was first published in Argentina in Spanish in 1997. Thanks to Gordana Stevović, Matica Crnogorska got the right to publish the translation. This work is of inestimable value for our culture in general and reflects in the best way everything that our emigrants went through from the moment they set foot on the soil of South America. Timoti Jokanović's "Memories" represent one of the most original and exciting emigrant confessions published so far in our country. In this story, the whole dimension of departure is shown in a unique way "to America" and the drama of leaving one's homeland from the dilemma "The one who is good goes and the one who is not good stays", through parting with loved ones and the latter's look at Lovćen, all the way to the arduous struggle for one's place in society in the new homeland. Rodolfo Jokanović sent this story, which Timotije Jokanović wrote at the end of the forties of the last century, so that his descendants know who they are and where they came from, and not forget their origins, to his friend Gordan Stojović, and that's how it got to Montenegro.
