The Luštica peninsula reaches across the entrance to the Bay of Kotor, facing Tivat, and remains one of the Montenegrin coast's most beguiling blends of wild nature and quiet luxury. Inland it is a tapestry of ancient olive groves, fragrant Mediterranean scrub and old stone hamlets; along the shore, footpaths and boat routes lead to hidden coves and pebble beaches washed by exceptionally clear water. Two of the best-loved swimming spots, Žanjice and the smaller, more secluded Mirišta, sit near the peninsula's tip — Žanjice a broad pebble bay, Mirišta a snug cove beloved by those seeking a little solitude. From either, small water taxis run out to the Blue Cave (Plava Špilja), a sea grotto where sunlight refracts through the water to fill the chamber with an electric-blue glow; boat tours from May to October typically pair it with a swim and a loop past the islet of Mamula. Luštica is also home to the Luštica Bay resort, a contemporary marina village set on the southern shore. Its waterfront, Marina Village, is the natural hub for day-trippers, with cafés and restaurants by the berths, and the wider development includes Montenegro's emerging golf scene: a Gary Player-designed championship course is taking shape, with its opening holes coming into play and the full course due to follow in the years ahead. The resort lies only around fifteen to twenty minutes by road from Tivat airport, making the peninsula remarkably easy to reach. This is a destination of two moods, and it suits both. Come for diving and snorkelling in some of the clearest water on the coast, for unhurried beach days and boat excursions, or for a polished marina dinner — and you can happily combine them all. Hire a car or a boat to explore properly, as the finest coves reveal themselves only to those who venture beyond the main beaches.
