Guests come to Sutomore on excursions mainly from two directions. The main road that leads from Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat and Budva (see it) to the south of Montenegro, or from Podgorica (see it) - through the Sozina tunnel. An equally favorite way to get to Sutomore is by train, since this picturesque coastal town is the penultimate stop on the over 500 km long Belgrade-Bar railway (see that).

Quite a number of continental people, and quite in line with human nature always eager for a Mediterranean adventure, as soon as they see the sea - imagine a wish! It's a nice custom. It is nurtured mainly by young people.

They are not young by chance in the story of Sutomor. This is because the prices of many seasonal items are the lowest here. It is enough to go 17 km north, towards Petrovac, and compare the prices. Especially those in Budva, 36 km away. Sutomore is loved for two key reasons: proximity and prices. Thousands of tourists from Serbia, as well as hundreds of Montenegrin guests, come here every summer day - by train. The first ones stay, the others usually return on the last train of the day.

Sutomorska beach is 1,250 m long, and because of the color of the sand in hot July and August, it is not without reason - it is called the Golden Coast. The sandy beach is several tens of meters wide. In the summer, it is the stage of youth, from the kind that is just learning to walk, to the kind that is just learning to kiss, to the kind of late youth that enjoys the mistral's kisses on sun-kissed arms, legs and maybe a slightly bigger belly.

A bigger stomach, despite swimming and numerous summer activities, is not difficult to get in Sutomore. Many online comments, even if they are negative about the occasional cleanliness problem, agree on this: the food is excellent. And it's cheap. From barbecue at continental prices, to a bottle of Montenegrin wine, to all other delicacies that we enjoy with a view of the sea.

Along the kilometer-long promenade there are hotels, villas, park areas, restaurants, day and night clubs, popular beach bars... Many tourist boats take guests on a tour of local attractions, including a close-up view of ocean liners anchored in the nearby Bar port.

Only 2 km to the south, there are the remains of the Benedictine monastery of the Virgin of Ratačka, from the 11th century. In the 12th c. Serbian Queen Jelena of Anjou will further expand the monastery property. Most of the monastery was destroyed by the Turks in 1553, and it was completely destroyed in 1571, in the battle between the Venetians and the Turks.

Sutomore and its surroundings are a real historical example of the coexistence of the local Orthodox majority with Catholic life. During the reign of Venice, i.e. In the Republic of Venice, and then in Austria, care was taken of relations between confessions. That is why many village churches had an Orthodox iconostasis in the east and an altar in the west. The only church where this unique religious phenomenon can still be seen today is the church of St. Tekle, with the first mention from the 8th c. Haj Nehaj fortress, on a 225 m high stone elevation above Sutomore, was built by the Venetians in the 16th century. Then the Turks strengthened it with fortifications, in the era when the city was called Spič.

Whoever comes from the direction of Belgrade via Podgorica, after a 40-minute drive, turns right after exiting the modern Sozina tunnel, in ten minutes they will find themselves on the coast, in Sutomore. In addition to the view of the open sea, this entire part of the southern coast is complemented by the view of the Sozina mountain, 1186 m high.
