Don't we all dream of going to some new picturesque place where we will make the best use of the remaining summer sun and sink into a multitude of blue shades? The end of August is the perfect period for exploring, summer is still hot but with the inevitable breeze, and sometimes you just have to go with the waves. We boarded a boat in the city port of Budva and set off on an adventure. Destination – the largest island in this part of the archipelago, the island of Sveti Nikola. Locals also call it "Skolj" because its shape resembles a shell, and it is known that every shell has its own story...

The fascinating cliffs that stretched around the Old Town led to the famous cave where the blue water beckoned to jump in and discover the undersea.

 1 kilometer or (0.6 miles) separated us from the imagined tropical destination and complete tranquility. Driving around the island and learning about the past, the deposits of sedimentary rocks reminded us how short and fleeting the human lifespan is. High cliffs with colorful light green vegetation descended vertically deep into the sea, and between them narrow deposits of white pebbles with shade from rocks in some parts could be seen.

We discovered these natural beaches from the sea, and they enticed with their perfection. The entire island of Saint Nicholas is 2 kilometers (1 mile) long, and the highest cliff on the island is 121 meters or (397 feet).

The island was named after the church of St. Nicholas, which was mentioned as early as the 16th century. Three larger beaches with beach bars are popular, and there are many smaller beaches around the island that are only accessible from the sea, so we decided to swim to one. The combination of the dramatic scene of the rocks and the strange settlement overgrown with lush vegetation as well as the crystal turquoise water was so unusual that we wanted to come back as soon as possible.
