Sveti Stefan
A 300-metre strand of pink-red pebble on the public side of the Sveti Stefan causeway, with the fortified island filling every frame.
Notre verdict
The northern beach is the Sveti Stefan most visitors can actually use: pinkish sand and pebble, clear turquoise water and the island walls a hundred metres away. It is a managed beach with loungers and a small bar, priced above the riviera average but nowhere near the Aman tariff on the other side of the causeway, which reopened on 1 July 2026 under a settlement that keeps this side and King’s Beach at Miločer public. Come for the view and the evening light rather than for space — the strand is short and the coaches arrive by ten.

- The long staircase from the car park has no shade — carry water and allow longer for the climb back in July and August
- Pebble entry that drops away quickly: water shoes help and small children need watching close to the waterline
- The southern (Aman) beach and the island gate are managed separately — do not cross the causeway line without checking the day’s access notice

- Is Sveti Stefan beach free?
- The northern beach is public. Under the 2026 settlement that reopened the Aman resort, the Sveti Stefan and King’s beaches stay open to the public while Queen’s Beach at Miločer is reserved for hotel guests. Loungers are paid; a free strip stays along the water.
- Can I walk onto the island?
- The island is the Aman hotel and access is controlled at the gate on the causeway. Check the day’s notice at the gate; the beach itself does not depend on it.
- How do I get there without a car?
- The Budva–Sveti Stefan bus runs every 10 minutes until 22:00 and the Budva–Petrovac bus roughly hourly, both stopping on the highway above the staircase. On foot it is about 15 minutes along the shore path from Miločer.
