About the area
The Budva Riviera is less a single town than a chain of settlements strung along about 25 kilometres of coast, and knowing the differences between them is most of the planning. Budva itself is the hub: the walled old town on its rocky spur, the marina, the market, the bus station and the long pebble sweep of Slovenska plaža, with the nightlife concentrated into a few streets that stay loud until dawn in August. Immediately east, Bečići and Rafailovići offer the longest beach and a slightly calmer version of the same thing.
Further along, the character keeps shifting. Miločer's shaded park and Sveti Stefan's fortified islet, joined to the shore by a sand causeway, make up the most photographed corner of the country. Pržno and Kamenovo are small pebble bays for people who want to swim rather than be seen. Petrovac, at the southern end, is the family option — a walled promenade, two red-sand beaches and a Venetian fort on the rocks. West of Budva, Jaz is the open beach used for the big summer concerts, and past it the road turns inland toward Tivat and the airport. Frequent local buses along the coast road connect almost all of it, which makes a car optional rather than essential.
