Bjelastica is one of the quieter residential streets on the landward side of Slovenska plaža, with low blocks, oleander hedges, a clinic and a taxi rank on the corner. The beach is about two hundred and fifty metres away down a shaded lane, and the centre of town roughly eight hundred, which is close enough to walk back from dinner and far enough to sleep through the music.
The Jadranski sajam fairgrounds are nearby, and out of season they bring trade fairs and concerts that keep local cafes open long after the beach bars have closed. The beach itself is the long, gently shelving stretch families choose, with pedalos, showers and shade under the pines. Follow the promenade north-west and you pass the marina before the Old Town walls come into view, with Ričardova glava tucked beneath them and the cliff path to Mogren beyond. Inland, the road towards the Grbalj plain leaves the coast behind within minutes: olive terraces, village churches, and konobas serving lamb cooked under a metal bell.
