Being five minutes from Budva's main bus station is a bigger asset than it sounds. The station is the hub for the whole central coast: Kotor and Perast to the north, Sveti Stefan, Petrovac and Bar to the south, Cetinje and Podgorica inland over the mountain, plus the seasonal lines that fill in the gaps along the riviera. Guests who skip the rental car usually do it from an address like this one, walking seven minutes down to the water in the morning and taking a bus somewhere else after lunch.
The immediate surroundings are ordinary Budva in the best sense, a working residential slope with bakeries, a butcher, small markets and grill places whose prices have not been adjusted for tourists. Fifteen minutes on foot brings the Old Town and its ring of ramparts, while the same walk in the other direction meets the promenade running behind Slovenska plaza toward Becici. Three things worth putting on the list: the boat taxis out to Sveti Nikola island, a few minutes offshore and the coolest water in the bay; the produce market for figs, cheese and olive oil; and an early start for Kotor, which is a different town before the cruise passengers arrive.
