Each in our own words
Veliki Pijesak
Veliki Pijesak is the resort beach of Dobra Voda: organised in rows by three concessions, a lit promenade with cafés behind it, a Blue Flag on the Best Sunset sector in 2026, and Veliki Kamen sitting in the water just off the shingle. The geometry is the point — no headland ever gets in the way of the sunset, which in late August and September sets almost due west at around 19:30. Come for the evening; the swimming is good but exposed.
The bay is open to the sea, waves are frequent and a drowning here in 2024 is recent; the August 2026 water sample was Good rather than Excellent, and the beach itself is shrinking by up to a metre a year.
Žukotrlica
Žukotrlica is Bar’s pine beach: about 1,000 m of pebble shore with real trees behind it, several contracted sectors and the free halves the public-beach rules require. It is the first stage of the King’s Promenade, so a swim here pairs naturally with the walk past Šušanj and Topolica to King Nikola’s palace and the marina. The pines are the reason to come; the sea is open, honest and not always calm.
The 2026 water results were the most mixed on the Bar coast — four Sufficient classifications alongside eleven Excellent — and the pebbles are unstable at the waterline; nothing about toilets, showers or parking is published.
