Each in our own words
Mirišta
Mirišta is Žanjice with the volume turned down: the same open-sea water and pale pebble, a smaller cove about 500 m south along the coast path, a beach bar and a few loungers at €10 instead of two restaurants, and overhanging trees that shade the back of the beach in the afternoon. The Austro-Hungarian fort of Arza stands on the headland beside it and the Blue Cave boats will pick up here. It is the better of the two for a day with a book, and the worse for lunch.
Facilities are basic and unconfirmed beyond a bar and a few loungers, and the path from Žanjice is rough and unlit — do not plan on walking it after dark.
Žanjice
Žanjice is the beach the Herceg Novi boats are built around: a broad pebble bay facing west over the bay mouth, with olive groves behind, two restaurants, showers and toilets, and loungers at €12–15. The water is open-sea water and our list rates it among the clearest on the coast. It is also a boat station — taxi boats from Herceg Novi land all day, and the Blue Cave boats leave from the beach — so it is never the quiet cove that Mirišta, ten minutes along the path, still is.
The bay is a boat station as much as a beach: boats land all day, the car park fills before ten in high summer, and the Blue Cave trip depends on the sea.
