Mirišta
The 200-metre pebble cove ten minutes along the coast path from Žanjic, under the Arza fort, with trees over the back of the beach and a fraction of the boats.
Our verdict
Mirišta is Žanjic with the volume turned down: the same open-sea water and pale pebble, a smaller cove about 500 m south along the coast path, a beach bar and a few loungers at €10 instead of two restaurants, and overhanging trees that shade the back of the beach in the afternoon. The Austro-Hungarian fort of Arza stands on the headland beside it and the Blue Cave boats will pick up here. It is the better of the two for a day with a book, and the worse for lunch.

- How do I get to Mirišta?
- Park at Žanjic and walk the coast path south for about ten minutes, or take a water taxi from Herceg Novi. The path is rough in places; wear shoes rather than flip-flops.
- Is Mirišta quieter than Žanjic?
- Yes — it is smaller, has fewer loungers and no restaurant, and most of the boats land at Žanjic. In July and August it still fills; come before noon for a place under the trees.
- What is the fort above the beach?
- Arza, an Austro-Hungarian coastal fort on the headland at the tip of Luštica, facing Mamula across the water. It is a ruin; there are no marked paths and no lighting.
