Dobreč

A 100-metre pebble cove on the outer Luštica shore with no road to it: the boat from Herceg Novi is the only way in and the only way out.

Our verdict

Dobreč is the quiet stop the Herceg Novi excursion boats sell: a short pebble cove on the north shore of Luštica, facing back across the bay mouth to Njivice and Prevlaka, with maquis behind it and no road. The water is open-sea water rather than inner-bay water, and the company is whoever the last boat brought. Our own list places it "near Bigova"; it is not — Bigova is on the Grbalj coast south of Tivat, and Dobreč is reached from the Herceg Novi side.

  • No road and no path we can vouch for: if the last boat leaves without you there is no walking out — agree the return time with the skipper
  • Boats come right into the cove to land passengers all day — swim close in or inside any buoys that are set
  • Pebble and rock at the water’s edge, with sea urchins on the rock at both ends — wear swim shoes
  • Carry water and shade for the whole day; count on nothing being open

How do I get to Dobreč?
By boat only. Taxi and excursion boats leave the Herceg Novi quay, Igalo and Njivice in season, and the Žanjice, Mamula and Blue Cave boats will drop you here on request. Fix the pick-up time before you step off.
Is there anything to eat or drink at Dobreč?
Our list says nothing at all, and we could not confirm otherwise, so bring your own water and food. Žanjice, the next big bay round the tip, has restaurants.
Can I combine Dobreč with the Blue Cave?
Yes — the same boats run past both. Since 2026 motorboats stop outside the cave and you swim or paddle in, sea state permitting.
