Right on the shoreline at the western end of Igalo, this is a stretch of coast built around water rather than streets. Sand and fine shingle run in front of the house, the shelf drops slowly, and the terrace over the sea is close enough to the surface that people fish from it in the evening. A naturist beach lies about 100 metres along the shore, and the coves continue west toward Njivice, each one a little emptier than the last. The bay here is sheltered, so swimming is usually possible from late May into October.
Inland the ground rises quickly into gardens of fig, pomegranate and oleander. The sports courts and rehabilitation facilities in the middle of Igalo are under a kilometre away, and the promenade that starts there runs east along the water; follow it for about three kilometres and you arrive under the walls of Herceg Novi's old town, where Forte Mare sits above the sea and the lanes climb in flights of steps. Both Dubrovnik and Tivat airports lie within about 25 kilometres, on opposite sides. Mornings on this shore are the best part of the day, before the bay picks up any wind.
