From this stretch of Igalo's shore the view runs straight out of the Bay of Kotor. The strait between the Luštica peninsula and Prevlaka frames the horizon, the island fortress of Mamula sits in the gap, and the ships heading for Herceg Novi and Kotor pass in full view. It is the one place on the Boka where you can watch the sun go down over open water rather than behind a mountain. The beach is directly below, the sea shallow and sheltered, and the seafront promenade passes along the front on its way east.
Igalo built its reputation on what is under that water: the mineral-rich mud and thermal springs used at the rehabilitation institute a few hundred metres away, which have brought treatment guests here since the 1950s and keep the town busy in winter. Around the hotels, the centre offers everyday shops, cafes and agencies rather than a resort strip. Within easy reach are Herceg Novi's old town and fortresses to the east, quieter swimming toward Njivice to the west, and boat trips to Žanjic, Mirište and the Blue Cave from the quays. Tivat airport is about half an hour by road around the bay.
