Summer on this part of Njegoševa revolves around the water. The shore below is one of the sandy stretches Igalo is known for, shallow and slow-shelving, with the pizzeria and beach terrace above it, so a day can pass without anyone getting into a car. The bay at this point is protected on all sides, so the sea stays flat and warms early; paddleboards and kayaks make more sense here than anywhere further out on the open coast, and the low water is forgiving for children.
When you want more than the beach, the options start at the waterline. Boat taxis and small operators run from Igalo and Herceg Novi around the mouth of the bay to Žanjic and Mirište, past the island fortress of Mamula, and into the Blue Cave on the seaward side of Luštica. On land, the promenade heads east along the coast to Herceg Novi's old town, a walk of a couple of hours at an easy pace, or fifteen minutes by bus. The best hours are the ones at either end of the day, when the bay turns still and the ridge of Prevlaka across the water goes from green to grey.
