This corner of Brežine sits on the residential slope above the southern edge of Petrovac — villas, gardens and oleander, with steps down to the water rather than a strip of hotels. Both of the town's beaches are a few minutes away on foot and the shore path over the headland links them, but the real value of the position is that Petrovac sits near the middle of Montenegro's coast rather than at one end of it.
Sveti Stefan's walled islet is five kilometres north, best seen first from the viewpoint on the old road above its causeway. Budva, sixteen kilometres on, has the densest cluster of old-town lanes on this coast and the beaches of Bečići and Rafailovići beyond. Southward it empties out: Buljarica's long shingle, then Bar with its ruined medieval town under Rumija and an olive tree reckoned to be two thousand years old, then the Skadar Lake boat trips and the salt pans and flamingos near Ulcinj. Inland, the Paštrovići ridge carries Reževići and Praskvica monasteries within a few kilometres of town, and Lovćen and Cetinje are about an hour of switchbacks away.
