Bokeški put threads along the slope above Kumbor's waterfront, high enough that the view opens over the strait where the Adriatic enters the Bay of Kotor. Mornings on this hillside are quiet, all cicadas and someone's boat engine starting below, with the Luštica shore sharpening as the light comes up. Down at the water there are rocky coves and small beaches for swimming, and a shoreline walk linking a series of village waterfronts, with tavernas along it doing grilled fish, octopus baked under the bell and local wine at tables set close to the sea.
The immediate area rewards short trips rather than long drives. Savina Monastery, about ten minutes away above Meljine, is a walled complex of churches in cypress and pine gardens looking down the bay, and Herceg Novi's centre a few minutes beyond it is a layered town of Venetian, Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian remnants stitched together with staircases: the Kanli Kula fortress, the clock tower gate, cafés on the main square. Boats from the shores nearby run to the Blue Cave and around Mamula island. For two people wanting the coast at its own pace, the pattern settles fast: swim, terrace, an early dinner on the water, then the lights of the bay afterwards.
