A kilometre east of this address the coast road drops to Škver, Herceg Novi's small harbour and the most useful landmark in the area. Fishing boats and excursion skippers tie up there, and in season day trips leave for Žanjice and Mirište on the Luštica peninsula, for the island fortress of Mamula and the Blue Cave, and up the bay to Perast and Kotor. Above the harbour the Old Town begins immediately: Forte Mare on its rock, then stone gates, stepped lanes and small squares climbing towards the Kanli Kula fortress.
The address itself lies in Topla, midway between the old core and Igalo, on a slope of gardens and low houses set back from the shore. Days divide easily — the beach and promenade below in the morning, the town or a boat in the afternoon. By car, the Kamenari–Lepetane ferry across the Verige strait cuts the drive to Kotor and Tivat substantially, and Tivat airport is around half an hour off. In the other direction Igalo, with its spa institute and long shallow beach, is a comfortable walk along the seafront.
