Šetalište kapetana Iva Vizina is Tivat's seafront walk, named for the Boka captain who sailed his brig Splendido around the world between 1852 and 1859 — the first from this coast to do it, and a fair summary of how the bay made its living. The promenade runs the length of the town, palms on one side, moored boats and swimming ledges on the other, linking the centre and its green market with the Porto Montenegro pontoons at the western end.
Almost everything worth doing in Tivat is strung along or just off that line. The marina holds the waterfront restaurants, the Lido pool and the Naval Heritage Collection, where two retired Yugoslav submarines are moored as exhibits. Eastward the walk continues to the Kalimanj fishing harbour, the beaches at Kalardovo, and the sandy neck out to Ostrvo cvijeća, where a monastery stands among the pines. Off the water, the Solila salt pans on the airport road are a birdwatching stop in spring and autumn, and the climb to Gornja Lastva gives the view down over the whole bay. Kotor is twenty minutes by car, and boats for Perast and the Blue Cave leave from the town quay.
