About the area
This stretch of coast belongs to the Paštrovići, a clan of villages whose territory ran from Budva to the Bar hinterland and whose history is stitched into everything above the shoreline. The monastery of Praskvica stands on the slope behind Sveti Stefan among olive terraces, with Reževići further south along the old road; the island itself began as a fortified fifteenth-century fishing settlement before its twentieth-century reinvention. Vukice Mitrović street runs through the quiet residential part of the village, set back from the highway and above the beaches.
Season matters here. June and September are the local secret — sea temperatures still in the mid-twenties, restaurant terraces relaxed, and the coastal path through Miločer park to Queen's Beach walkable at midday. High summer brings crowds to the causeway and traffic to the magistrala; winter empties the village almost completely, which is when the views are cleanest. Whatever the month, Budva's Old Town is eight kilometres north, Kotor's walled town and the inner bay under an hour around the coast, and Cetinje with its embassies-turned-museums about forty minutes up the mountain road.
