Pinješ Pines
A shaded shoreline path under pines between Ulcinj’s minaret-studded Old Town and the wooden kalimera fishing nets of Port Milena — the most Mediterranean stretch of the coast.

Good to know
- Getting back from Velika Plaža: minibuses run to the market on Skenderbeu Avenue, taxis cost about €10–15, and in summer a boat shuttle (~€4) links Velika Plaža with the town.
- Ženska plaža is women-only from May to October — male walkers stay on the upper path; the sulphur spring has drawn medical visitors since the early 1900s.
- Pines shade the route from the Old Town to the Pinješ coves; the Port Milena → Velika Plaža leg is fully exposed with no fountains — carry water in July–August.
- Kite season on Velika Plaža is May–September: the afternoon maestral blows 15–25 knots — expect sand on the wind on the final leg.
- The Kalaja citadel is steep cobbles and steps; a step-free variant follows the promenade below the walls.
- Flamingo months at the Ulcinj Salina (Nature Park since 2019) are March–June and mid-August–November — a 10-minute spur from the Port Milena canal path.

Ulcinj Old Town

Illyrian, Venetian and Ottoman walls stacked above the sea, with the Church-Mosque and the little Slave Square carrying the town's corsair past. The Cervantes connection and the reading of Dulcinea in Ulcinj's old name, Dulcigno, are local legend rather than documented record — enjoyable, and worth keeping labelled as such.

Sailors’ Mosque

The safest account is not that a fourteenth-century mosque survived here. A mosque associated with sailors has a widely repeated link to Ibrahim Pasha around 1798; it was demolished in 1931, and the present building is a modern reconstruction built on the earlier site in 2008–2012. Sources describe a lamp atop the old stone minaret signalling proximity to Ulcinj, which makes “lighthouse” a useful shorthand rather than a charted service.

Rock-and-pine coves between the town beach and Ženska plaža, where the swimming is unhurried and the water is at its clearest on this walk. Judge entry, depth and sea state on the day rather than from a photograph.
Ženska plaža
Stage 5 of 7 →
A sulphur spring runs into the sea at this screened cove, which the national tourism organisation describes as women-only and which local sources say is mostly visited from May to October. The custom is long-standing; no clinical evidence was found that bathing here treats infertility. Male walkers keep to the pine path above.
Port Milena
Stage 6 of 7 →
The canal carries the name of Princess — later Queen — Milena from 1885, and the wooden kalimera net-cranes along it were recognised as an intangible cultural asset in 2017. Come early, when the water is still.

The path ends where the long beach begins: a broad, shallow, gently shelving bay that is both one of Montenegro's most family-friendly beaches and its main kitesurfing and windsurfing centre, with schools and rental stations along the strip. Beyond it lie the Bojana River's fish restaurants and Ada Bojana.
