Lepetane stands at the narrowest point of the Bay of Kotor, where the water pinches to a few hundred metres at the Verige strait — the passage the Venetians once closed with chains against raiders. The car ferry crosses here to Kamenari on the far shore, a five-minute hop running through the night, and it is the single most useful thing about the address: Herceg Novi, Igalo and the mouth of the bay become a half-hour trip rather than a long drive around. The village itself is a thin line of houses along the shore, with the beach a few steps away and a couple of restaurants nearby.
Water in the narrows is deep and clear, and the far side of the strait is close enough to make the view feel like a river rather than a sea. Tivat centre and Porto Montenegro's promenade are five kilometres south, with the airport just beyond. Northeast the bay road follows the shoreline to Perast, its waterfront palaces and the two islets of Gospa od Škrpjela and Sveti Đorđe, and on to Kotor's walled town — one of the best short drives anywhere on the Adriatic.
