Žukotrlica is the beach that defines this part of Šušanj — a long shingle strand with clear, quickly deepening water, backed by pine and a scatter of low-key beach bars. It is the sort of place where regulars have a preferred stretch and return to it every summer, and where the water stays swimmable well into October. From the streets behind, the shore is only a few minutes' walk downhill, past gardens, small shops and the kind of family-run restaurants that put the day's fish on a board rather than a menu.
Walking south along the coast brings you to Bar's marina and waterfront park within half an hour, and the town beyond it supplies the useful things: a proper produce market, the port with the overnight ferry to Bari, and rail connections inland. In the other direction, past the headland with the ruins of the Ratac monastery, lies Sutomore and its broader, shallower bay, which suits younger children better. Boat operators along the Bar riviera run day trips down the coast in season, an easy way to reach Veliki Pijesak, Utjeha and the beaches around Ulcinj without dealing with the coast road in August traffic.
