Čanj
A 1.1–1.2 km strand of sand, pebbles and stones between Petrovac and Sutomore, with all three official water points Excellent in August 2026 and a boat-only cove, Kraljičina plaža, round the headland.
Our verdict
Čanj is the quiet option on the Bar riviera: a kilometre and more of mixed sand and pebble — the “pearl coast” for the way it shimmers — in a bay that the trains do not reach. The water tested Excellent at every point in August 2026. Its second act is Kraljičina plaža, the Queen’s Beach, walled in by rock and reached only from the sea; the boats leave from Čanj and the cove has its own pier.

- Kraljičina plaža (Queen’s Beach) is enclosed by inaccessible rock — reach it by boat only; do not try to round the headland on foot or swim it
- Pebbles and stones under the sand at the waterline — shoes for children
- No railway and a seasonal bus: check the last bus back to Sutomore and Bar before you settle in
- A microbiological result does not measure waves, currents, jellyfish or broken glass — after heavy rain, wait a day

- By boat from Čanj. The cove, Uvala Pećin, is enclosed by inaccessible rock and has a pier for the boats; there is no path round the headland. Ask on the beach for the day’s departures and prices — none are published.
- Which town is Čanj in?
- Bar municipality, 9 km from Sutomore (about 10 minutes by car) and 7 km from Petrovac. It has no railway station of its own; the nearest is Sutomore.
- How clean is the water?
- At the 17 August 2026 sampling all three official monitoring points, Čanj 01 to 03, were classified Excellent (published 30 August). A microbiological result says nothing about waves or jellyfish, so still look at the sea.
