Our verdict
The highest point of Orjen, the massif directly behind Herceg Novi, and one of the strangest places in the country: a bare limestone desert of sinkholes and karst at 1,900 m, an hour above a subtropical coast.
The honest part
Orjen is the wettest massif in Europe — the station at Crkvice on its flank holds the continental rainfall record — and it is also waterless, because every drop goes straight into the limestone. There is no water on the mountain, no shelter and no signal, and the cloud comes in off the sea without warning.

Why there are no snow depths here
The reanalysis puts Zubački Kabao at 1,866 m with a coldest-month daily high of -1.1 °C, and then reports a deepest snow depth of 18 cm across 10 winters. Both cannot be true. Snow depth is not corrected for elevation the way temperature is — it is the value for a grid cell some nine kilometres across, and on this ridge that cell is mostly low ground beside a warm sea. So we publish the temperatures, which are sound, and no depths at all. Treat winter here as snowbound and check the station reading above.
