Two sandy coves under the cliffs ten minutes from Budva Old Town, joined by a tunnel in the rock and reached only on foot.

Our verdict

Mogren is Budva’s prettiest swim and its most exposed: about 350 m of fine sand in two coves, clear water, a rock wall behind and the Old Town a ten-minute cliff walk away. Mogren II, through the tunnel, is always the quieter of the two. The setting is the point, and so is the price of it — the path closes in a southerly, the coves have no road, and the concessions are the only services.

Know before you swim

  • The cliff path is unsafe in a southerly wind or strong waves, and its gate is locked in rough seas — do not climb round it
  • If the concessions have closed for big waves, do not swim: a swimmer drowned at Mogren II on 27 July 2026 after both had shut
  • The path is paved but uneven, with steps — not for pushchairs or anyone unsteady on their feet
  • Rocks at both edges of each cove and in the passage between them

How do I get to Mogren?
On foot only. From the Ballerina statue below the Old Town walls follow the paved cliff path for 8–10 minutes to Mogren I, then the short rocky passage and tunnel to Mogren II. The gate opens at set hours and is locked in rough seas.
Which cove is quieter?
Mogren II, the farther one through the tunnel. Arrive before 10:00 in July and August if you want sand without renting a lounger.
Is there a lifeguard?
Our list records lifeguards on Mogren I only, none on Mogren II. Neither cove is patrolled once the concessions close for weather.
