Plaža Trsteno

A 150-metre sand cove west of Jaz where an adult can still stand far out in clear water, run by one beach club and reached by a narrow lane or by boat.

Our verdict

Trsteno is the small, shallow alternative to Jaz: about 150 m of sand at the head of a narrow south-facing cove, water that stays waist-deep a long way out, and a single beach club with a restaurant, umbrellas and a buoy line. It is organised rather than wild, and better for small children than any of the bigger Budva beaches. The same local bus that serves Jaz stops here.

  • Day boats and yachts anchor just outside the buoy line — stay inside it
  • The lane down from the road is narrow and the car park small; it fills by late morning in August
  • The cove faces south with no natural shade — full sun all day unless you rent an umbrella

Where exactly is Trsteno?
In the next cove west of Jaz on the Budva side of the road to Tivat, about 6 km from Budva — not near Plavi Horizonti on Luštica, as some lists say. The turn-off is signed from the Jaz–Tivat road.
Is Trsteno good for children?
Yes. The bottom is sand and fine gravel and the water stays shallow far out, inside a buoy line that keeps boats off.
How do I get there without a car?
The Budva–Jaz–Trsteno–Ploče local bus, 14 departures a day per Budva Tourism, stops at the top of the lane.
