Baošići (Montenegro) is located 10 km east of Herceg Novi, about a quarter of the way to Kotor. The settlement extends along the coast itself, in a length of 2 km. They were named after the Balšić ruling dynasty of Montenegro. Another tradition claims that the settlement was named in honor of Balša Cvjetković, who was the first to move to this area with his family after the liberation from the Turks, in 1590. In support of this version of the origin of the name is the fact that there are neither Balšić nor Baošić in Baošić today, but there are many Cvjetković. Anyway, under the name Baošle, the Baošići were first mentioned in the charter of the Serbian emperor Dušan in 1351. In the village there are remains of the walls of the Balšin dvori and the Balšin well. Since ancient times, the people of Baošić have been known as excellent Gulf fishermen, then as sailors and craftsmen. At the time when seafaring flourished in Boka Kotorska (Montenegro), the Baošići had over 30 long-sailing ships (today none), and over 50 captains. Fortunately, he still has a captain today. And many naval officers and sailors! Their stories are always like wonderful travelogues, so it's worth hearing them first hand. How to find a naval officer? Ask any local. He will show you with his finger or his eye who is in the group of people - just a sailor.

Well, Baošići is an idyllic tourist destination. For whom? First of all, for couples with small children. And for those who vacation with even two generations of offspring: with younger children and younger teenagers. Baošići is idyllic for those who escape from the Herzegovinian, Kotor or Budva-type crowds. For lovers of nature in a coastal, Mediterranean way, or for lovers of good old natural (!) sandy beaches! If a strict critic's eye anchors on the bow of one of the many tourist boats, what can it notice? In Baošići, there is not a single hotel that could claim a part of the coast as "their own". Access to the beaches is free. And there are dozens of beaches with small, pleasant pebbles! Those beaches under the shade of some centuries-old Mediterranean pine, or Canarian palm, or magnolia are not rare. Such small beaches are a paradise for children. Adults can pass the time by finding edible and tasty vongole shells in the very shallow coastal sand, with a mask on their face. (Grooved carpet shell) and scales (Warty venus). Lunch does not always have to be paid for. It can be picked from the sea! Until a decade ago, you could see a few fishing boats on almost every beach. The way laundry is dried today, dozens of fishing nets used to be dried on the coast in Baošići. Cats could always be seen around them, because the nets smelled of full catches. Even today in Baošići there is the only fishing cooperative in the Gulf. However, fish is not the trademark of Baošić. But it is one flower. It's a mimosa. Every first Saturday in February, always every first Saturday in February, the final of the Mimosa Festival takes place in Baošići. That final always takes place on the coast, in the center of Baošić! And it's always a big party! On the beaches, fish is grilled and distributed for free, along with wine and beer, to anyone who wants it. Clapes sing Mediterranean songs and play live music, thousands of people dance and rejoice. It smells like fish, lemon, wine and the sea! In February, whoever passes the Adriatic highway through Baošići, sees a miracle: mimosa forests! Not individual trees of this wonderful winter flower, but forests! Fragrant, yellow, full of mimosa in mature, profuse winter bloom. Every photo taken in Baošići in those days reveals the peak of Mount Lovćen in the background. While many are sunbathing on the coast, there is snow on Lovcen. Unique, the Mimosa Festival boasts a tradition of 40 years. Along the coast of Baošić, a gentle fishing village, you can see cypress, oleander, banana, and many types of tropical palms. Baošići is an idyllic garden. The seeds of many plants were brought by sailors.

Church of St. Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors, was built in Baošići more than 400 years ago. It was restored in 1802. The old captain's home was once an unavoidable tourist route. It is about the legacy of the Slovenian sea captain, Miroslav Štumberger, an unsurpassed modeler of the old Boko Kotor sailing ships, whose legacy, in the times behind us, was brazenly robbed. Captain Stumberger's name still lives on, as does the name of his Museum in Baošići. In Baošići, the heart of the French naval officer and poet Pierre Loti beat faster in 1880, when the then little-known Pierre Loti fell in love with the villager Paskvala Ivanović. He wrote about his love for Pasquale in his Diary, and immortalized it in the book Rare Flowers. In October 1934, the Society of Friends of France erected a memorial plaque in Baošići in memory of the poet and his twofold unconquered love: to be with Pasval forever, and to live forever in the idyllic Baošići.
