International Book Fair - In the hot days of July, another tempting offer for visitors to Herceg Novi is the international book fair, the so-called "Book Square", which takes place on the beautiful Belavista Square. "Book Square" is conceived, not as a classic sales fair, but as a true festival of books and all that it implies. This year's motto was "Word"

"It really was the WORD: of poets, writers, historians, literary critics, it was the word of the actors and the word of the audience, organizers, publishers, guests and hosts, and there was also music and song. We spoke differently sometimes, and judged differently, and again in the end everything remained under this Herzegovinian sky, on a small but beautiful square, illuminated by the holiness of the Church of St. Archangel Michael, touched by the bells of St. Jerome, bathed in fear summer rain and starlit", said Dejan Mandić, mayor of Herceg Novi, at the closing evening of the "Book Square".

During the eight days that the "Book Square" International Fair lasted, their works or authors were presented by: Educational Centre, Unireks, Ars-Libri, Stubovi kulture, Svetigora, Besjeda, Official Gazette of SCG, Institute for textbooks and teaching aids, the Hercegnov Literary Association and the Native Museum.

In addition to imposing names from the domain of the publishing house "Trgu od knjige", significant names of literature and other spheres of science and art were also guests, such as: Svetlana Velmar Janković, Marija Jovanović, prof. Ph.D. Aleksandar Jerkov, prof. Dr. Milo Lompar, prof. Ph.D. Radoš Ljušić, prof. Ph.D. Darko Antović, M.Sc. Ilija Lalošević, poets Jelisaveta Seka Sablić and Nada Blam, and the literary community of Herceg Novi, in cooperation with poets in the diaspora, organized an evening called "Poets in Dispersion".

The most sought-after books during the eight days of the fair were: Classics in the English language, Oxford dictionaries, Chevalier's "Girl with a pearl earring", Mythology and religion of the ancient Slavs, Myths of Ancient Greece and Njegošev Luča Mikrokosma, whose four-language edition in our language, English, French and German, was presented for the first time at the "Book Square", and was prepared by the Njegoš Foundation from Belgrade and the Official Gazette of SCG. In order to influence the quality of the promotions and the fair itself, the organizers have prepared prizes for the most beautiful books and the best promotions, as well as for the most regular visitors to the "Book Square".

Thus, the official jury awarded plaques in the category of the most beautiful books: to the "Jazon" Library, Institute for Textbooks and Teaching Aids from Belgrade, for the classic design of historiographical monographs; then the already mentioned four-language edition of Luca Mikrokosma; and the philosophical library "Altera" for the modern design of books of philosophical thought from the classics to contemporary philosophical currents.
