Herceg Novi - Even though October is the tourist season in Boka, it does not give up. Beautiful natural conditions, a mild climate with an air temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius and the inventiveness of the locals have made it possible for visitors to the bride of the Adriatic [Herceg-Novi] to enjoy water sports even at this time of the year. This fact was best argued by the now traditional old-timer sailing regatta "Stara brokva 2004".
Organized by the club of the same name from Herceg Novi in the water area in front of the city of Mimosa, about fifteen real old-timer sailboats competed, among which was one from the distant 1908.
The regatta lasted about two hours, and was sailed according to the so-called "sausage" system - three laps around two buoys.
The fastest and most agile on that route was Marko Bjelić from the club "Jugole Grakalić" Herceg Novi, while his clubmate Dragan Mladenović crossed the finish line second. The third position was won by Ognjen Karadžić from the "Stara brokva" club, and besides them, the oldest sailor Ilija Pušić and the youngest competitors Una Lučić and Lav Vukotić, who are only five years old, also received awards.
On the occasion of the same event, the eighth solo exhibition of paintings by the academic painter Zoran Bulatović, one of the authentic and characteristic representatives of Herceg Novi and the Bokel art way of life, was held in the club premises.

The regatta and the season around it
What it is. Stara brokva — the name means the old sail — is an old-timer regatta held in the Bay of Kotor off Herceg Novi, sailed in traditional and classic boats rather than modern racing hulls. It is as much a gathering of restored craft as a competition.
When. Autumn, with October the usual month: the sea is still warm from summer, the wind is more reliable than in August, and the town is quiet again. Dates move year to year, so confirm locally.
Watching it. The Pet Danica promenade and the old town waterfront give a clear view of the course without a boat, and the fleet is worth seeing at the quay before and after racing.
The wider point. October in Boka is one of the better-kept secrets on this coast — air still around the mid-twenties, sea warm enough to swim, prices down and the cruise crowds gone.
