Our Lady of Škrpjel When you pass Verige (the narrowest part of the bay) you will meet the ancient city, which with its fame and name surpasses even the much bigger one, Perast with its islands.

There are two museums in Perast, the one on the island of Gospaod Škrpjela and the museum in the city itself

Island of St. George Tripo Kokolja (1661-1713), a famous Barkonli painter whose works decorated the Lady of Škrpijela in Peraška. Marko Martinovic (1663 – 1716) is the man who started the first private and recognized maritime school in the world in Perast, where the Russian nobles who were sent there by the Russian emperor Peter the Great began to learn maritime skills.

Matija Zmajevic (1680-1735) became admiral of the Russian Baltic fleet and was one of the main shipbuilders of the Russian emperor Peter the Great. He became famous in many naval battles against Šveðan, for which he received the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
