In the river basin, you can find brook trout, a fish that lives only in extremely clean water, grayling, grayling, grayling and numerous other species. Otters can also be seen on the Tara River, and are very interesting to watch as they enjoy playing. The recorded species of otter on Tara has a flexible and very mobile body. It is extremely capable of diving and can stay in the water for a long time, and its sharp and strong teeth are used to catch prey. This species usually grows between 57 and 95 cm, not counting the tail, which is about 35 to 45 cm long. In winter, they often roll in the snow and slide down frozen slopes. It is believed that the cry of an otter can be heard at a distance of up to 2 km. This species is widespread throughout Europe, North Africa and most of Asia.

  Ulcinjska Solana and Flamingos The Ulcinj Saltworks is one of the largest saltworks in the Mediterranean and one of the rare places in Europe where wild flamingos live. It was declared a wetland of international importance in 2019 and included in the Ramsar world list of wetlands. It is considered the most important habitat for birds on the eastern coast of the Adriatic, suitable for nesting and wintering, but also as a resting place during their migration to Africa and vice versa. The unusual combination of an industrial zone and a unique bird reserve make this experience special. Ulcinjska Solana is 15 km2 long and the entrance is free, and you also get a bicycle so that you can get around the place in a simpler way, while walking takes 3-4 hours at a leisurely pace. The salt pan is a habitat for over 250 different bird species, and it is located on the site of a natural lagoon in the Ada Bojana delta.

For more than 80 years, salt has been produced here from seawater pumped from the Adriatic Sea. From 1935 to 2013, salt was collected at this place, but production stopped due to bankruptcy. To see fantastic specimens of flamingos, you have to go to the very end of the salt pan. After about 5 km of cycling, you will come across a bird observatory where flamingos are mostly stationed. The view of these beautiful and rare birds is really fascinating and much better than in the photos. In the end, you will certainly be surprised by the protected nature and bird life of this wonderful place. Flamingos are unique birds that can be recognized by their white color with shades of pink and red, and black summer feathers, while their beak, except for the tip, is black. The young are grey-brown in color, and turn pink only after the second year of life. They are also recognizable by their pink legs, which are not covered with feathers, as well as by standing on one leg. In this way, they control contact with water and prevent loss of body temperature. The length of flamingos ranges from 160-180 cm, while their wingspan is 270-320 cm. They usually move and feed in large flocks for protection from predators. They feed on small organisms, plankton from the bottom, and their favorite food is shrimps, thanks to which they get the famous pink pigment. The feeding process of flamingos is called filtering. They capture water with their beaks and release it to retain food. In Crnpj Gora, flamingos can be seen most often in the Ulcinj Salt Lake, so don't miss this extraordinary experience.

  Durmitor Ice Cave Did you know that there is a place in Montenegro where winter lasts forever and where icy stalactites and stalagmites capture the attention of daring visitors throughout the year? Exactly, at a height of 2156 m, on one of the many peaks of Durmitor, Obloj Glavi, there is a wonder of nature - the Ice Cave. Entry to the cave has been prohibited since August 2026: on 22 August the National Parks of Montenegro put up barriers to protect the ice and the cave's microclimate, so the walk now ends at the barrier. The marked route starts at ⁠Black Lake and runs via katun Lokvice, 6.55 km and at least 3 hours each way. The cave is covered with eternal snow from the very entrance, which is 40m long and reaches all the way to the ice-bound cave floor. Before the ban, the cave floor could only be reached by digging in the feet or with the help of a rope.

Numerous ice columns of different sizes and shapes decorate the bottom of the cave, which represents an incredible play of nature, from smaller sizes to several meters high. During the summer months, this cave used to be a place for mountaineers to cool off. In a hall 40 m long and 20 m wide, pure ice water dripping from the vaults forms magical human-sized ice figures. The Ice Cave was once a stop where visitors replenished their water supplies while exploring the hidden beauty of one of the most fascinating mountains in Montenegro. 

  Meanders of ijehotina Pljevlja 20 km from Pljevlja, on the Pljevlja-Vrulja road in the village of Mataruge, there is a place from which all the divinity of nature can be seen, namely the meanders of Ćehotina. The Ćehotina River is a mountain river that originates near the town of Donji Kolašin, near the border of Serbia and Montenegro. It is 125 kilometers long and flows through Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, where it flows into the Drina. Due to the canyon area, Otilovic Lake is not accessible to visitors along its entire length. However, there are several points on the lake where boats, kayaks and tour boats can pass.

As one of the best natural indicators of environmental health, they can be found in this area at all altitudes, from zero to 1900m.
