Zabljak is the heart of Montenegro's mountain tourism, perched at 1,456 meters above sea level on a plateau surrounded by the dramatic peaks of Durmitor National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This small highland town serves as the gateway to some of the most spectacular alpine scenery in the Balkans, from the legendary Black Lake — a glacial jewel framed by dense pine forests — to the Tara River Canyon, the deepest canyon in Europe and second deepest in the world.
