Radovići, Krtoli, Montenegro
Radovići is the only place in Boko Kotor from which you can see two blue waters: the Gulf Sea and the open sea! Church of St. Ladies and gentlemen, what dominates the landscape is the congregational church of the whole of Krtola. From Radovići, you can reach the idyllic sandy bays: Pržna or Plavih horizonat, and Oblatna bay - on the one hand, and to very old settlements in the inner part of Boka, to settlements with a truly privileged view of as many as three islands...
The only place in Boko Kotor from which you can see a good part of Boka and the open sea (!) is Radovići. They are easily reached from Tivat (Montenegro), first by the Adriatic highway next to Tivat Airport, then by a good asphalt road that turns right at the first intersection (if you turn left, you will reach ancient Kotor in 5 minutes).
The road to Radovići is really picturesque and not long (about 15 minutes). During the first few minutes of a pleasant ride, you pass through a plain famous for being the habitat of many rare species. Already at the first gentle ascent, you can see Solil, the remains of the medieval salt pans, the entire Soliot field divided by dams where salt was once obtained by evaporating sea water. The blue-white color of this part of the bay is amazing and just fascinating. It is the color of the lagoon, the shallowest part of Boka Kotorska! In the last third of the way, the view is like a magnet riveted to the coastal landscape, to the perspectives of three in the most literal sense of the word – the fairy-tale nearby islands. These are the islands, the Island of Flowers (Miholjska Pass), Sv. Marko and Our Lady of Mercy - like a pomegranate full of history (see Krtoli, Montenegro)!
Napokon, stiže se u Radoviće, na naseljenu blagu uzvišicu s dva povlašćena pogleda na more! Radovići is the largest and central town of the Krtola area (a separate part of the Luštica peninsula, Montenegro). Until yesterday, a village with typical coastal stone houses, today Radovići has considerable tourist facilities, a new settlement, a school, a market, a fire station, an ambulance, a post office.
In the central place is the congregational church of the whole of Krtola, the church of St. Lady, built on the site of an older temple. That it was built in 1843 can be seen from the carved inscription above the stone portal. It is a one-nave, colorful church with a semicircular apse, a dome and a dominant bell tower on the front. This belfry ends with an eight-sided cube with small windows and what is typical - it carries a clock inside!
Church of St. Spasa, built in 1796, has a single nave, with an elongated base and a picturesque cemetery in its composition.
However, the greatest tourist treasure of Radovići are the nearby beaches. The most famous bay is Pržno, better known as Blue Horizons, named after the hotel of the same name. The bay can be reached by car, although those who spend their summer in Radovići prefer to walk to the shore. It's healthier and cheaper.
Blue horizons are, well, a natural pearl in the larger Trašte Bay. It is no exaggeration to say that guests who want the Mediterranean, especially those who live in the north of the continent, imagine a coastal paradise like this!
The cove is shaped like a horseshoe, surrounded by rocks above which the centuries-old coastal pines dominate. On the long central sandy beach, because of the smallest substrate, parents and children build sand towers. The beach is shallow, the color of milk, into which the cherry is a drop of ink! All the beach amenities here are included during the season, including live music, good food, an amusement park for children framed by century-old cypresses.
Those who don't like crowds will find absolute peace on the rocky positions along the left or right side of the bay. The rocky parts of the Cove, to which concrete paths lead through groves of laurel, carob, olive and magnolia, are a real underwater zoo! So bring a mask in your backpack! There, in the shallows, numerous banks of fish live, tiny and larger, octopuses, rare snails Thais haematostoma, one of those from which the ancient Phoenicians obtained the most expensive color - imperial purple! The rocky approaches to the sea abound with sea urchins, which is why many bathers shy away from these rocks. But that's why nudists love them! Do not go to the rocks with small children...
From the left edge of the cove, you can see Bigova bay (see Bigova). From the far right edge – cuticles are biting from a new ecological surprise, located in Oblatna bay. Oblatna beach, also quite sandy, can be reached quickly, by the road that turns right from Radovići. From Oblatna, you can go further, to Dobra luka, but this time a quite rocky (although very clean) position.
For descriptions of beaches and towns that are definitely worth visiting, as well as descriptions of idyllic islands in the nearby Gulf (Tivat) Sacred Archipelago, see the text Krtoli (Montenegro). This is the most remote part of the Boka Kotor and Montenegrin coast, full of picturesque surprises of all kinds...
