Every day new faces and new places kept changing. After a whole day of walking around Buenos Aires and some kind of tourist sightseeing, which for me, like for few people (you can safely say no one) was quite boring. The whole time, instead of seeing the beauties and sights of this beautiful city, I spent impatiently waiting to come into contact with anything that would satisfy my great thirst for knowledge of the traces left behind by our settlers. And finally we gathered again at Jokanović's house, the lovely Laura opened a bottle of red wine from Mendoza that had been brought to the tasting by Miloš Deretić, a great lover and connoisseur of Latin American wines, a few nights before. With Vino tinto di Mendoza, we waited for the Ćetković family so that they could all go to visit one of the most prominent Montenegrin families in Buenos Aires, the Laković family. Restaurant Lovćen After a usually long drive through the streets of the metropolis of twelve million, we arrived in elegant Palermo at the apartment of judge Marta Laković, where the largest part of this successful and numerous family was waiting for us. When a person walks through Palermo, he immediately gets a completely clear picture of all the contrasts of South America that I have heard so much about. Tall, luxuriously equipped buildings that almost all start only from the second floor with huge entrances and mandatory porters. The first or, according to our criteria, the third floor has mandatory bars. Every now and then you meet security guards. You can feel incredible peace and tranquility, there is no chaos and sirens of a multimillion-dollar metropolis like in other parts of Buenos Aires. We took the elevator that leads directly to the apartment. At the entrance, we were greeted by the warm faces of Olga, Marta, Emilija Laković, and Marta's children. We sat down in the living room, where Emilija Laković, born in Switzerland, spoke to me in perfect, as they say, "our" language. Mrs. Emilia is the mother of Martin, Olgino and Juan Carlos. She was born in Argentina to Montenegrin parents (her mother is from Perović from Cuco). Many years later, as a native Argentinian, she again met the man of her life in Argentina, Radomir Laković, who arrived in her native country from the country of her parents, the country she had heard so much about and knew so much about, which she loved so much. The story of the Laković Family is another one of those incredible testimonies like the Memories of Timoti Jokanović, Nikola Jovanović, which will be found in the latest edition, a work I have been working on for years. The work that I am working on together with my friends from Argentina, the one that should finally tear away from oblivion that inseparable part of our people, and above all their ancestors who arrived in that country in the last century. Dr. Olga Laković and Gordan Stojović Again, as in every Montenegrin house in Argentina, stories about the old region, people, events, contacts, gatherings and visits to the old homeland. A few days later, we visited the Laković family again in their weekend house in the vicinity of Buenos Aires. There I met the youngest child of Radomir and Emilia, Juan Carlos Laković, a man of exceptional manners and style, otherwise a very successful industrialist and hotelier, owner of the Hotel in Mar del Plata, the most famous Argentine resort. We enter a house decorated with incredible taste, which is located in one of the country areas around Buenos Aires. Country towns are settlements where the uninvited and the unannounced cannot enter, which provide all possible security and amenities to their not-so-many residents. A swimming pool, a fireplace and a combination of wood and stone that, as a big fan of traditional Mediterranean forms of architecture, which in this case have been transposed into the environment of Latin America, suit me incredibly well. On the wall in the house there is a metal plate on which it is written Radomir Laković Montenegro, remembering his father and the country where he came from. Juan offers me his home for solitude with great pleasure and from the bottom of his heart, so that when I wish that no one knows about me and when I decide to finally finish all these things that I am writing and that I plan to write about his and the ancestors of all other Montenegrins living in that country. My house is your house, Gordana, when you want to write, come here and stay as long as you want - I could hardly hold back the tears, I admit. At that moment I realized how important all this is to them. I realized that I am not some crazy person from Montenegro who has been trying to break through some barriers for years without success. That's when I realized that everything is not in vain and that what I want and what I do is really appreciated from the heart and someone really loves me for it. Fame is absolutely nothing if it is artificially inflated, fame is nothing if people do not approach you from the heart. Then I remembered all those nights spent on a chair in front of the computer in Herceg Novi, writing and thinking about travels, emigrant dimensions, about meeting the mouth of La Plata or Ellis Island. Trying to grasp the moment with my hand, to feel with my imagination what it must have been like. How those people felt, what they imagined, dreamed, desired, the bitterness they felt or relief after leaving the womb. After the day spent in the company of Juan Carlos and Mrs. Emilia, we returned to the Jokanović house, from where we met the entire administration of Zeta, the first organization in Latin America that gathers all the descendants of immigrants from Montenegro in a wise way. All settlers, regardless of how they remember their roots and how they interpreted their origin. Unfortunately, the evil divisions got involved here as well. Socializing in the ⁠Lovcen restaurant, lunch together. At the same time, I couldn't even imagine what kind of equalizer was in store for me. Rodolfo, Miloš and Juan together with other friends in the members of Zeta arranged a big meeting in the Lovćen restaurant in agreement with Mrs. Vjera Filipović. We drove through Buenos Aires mostly talking about Argentine politics and the political career of many Montenegrins who were or still are in high positions in Argentine politics. The Garivoto family, who used to be surnamed Gazivoda, Radonjići, the Capitanich family from which the current senator Jorge is from, of course the legendary Eduardo Vuletić and many others, known at the local, regional and national level in Argentina.Joint photo in the Lovćen restaurant Just then, in the middle of the story about the famous Montenegrins who borrowed the southern expanses of the new continent, a surprise came. We parked in front of the Lovchen restaurant! A piece of Montenegro in the middle of Buenos Aires. On the wall is a large inscription with the name of our holy mountain and the coat of arms of the Republic of Montenegro. Inside, the landlady Vjera Filipović and her children welcomed us in a fraternal and cordial manner, as befits Montenegrins. "They said that I should choose the name, that was their wish," Vjera tells me. As usual, I indulged in feelings and fantasies. I was filled with bitterness again because of decades of injustice towards these wonderful people who only wanted a grain of the land of their ancestors. Then he started patting me on the shoulder as someone approached. Years and years of correspondence, exchange of information, cooperation, construction, clearing... On the one hand, searching for roots, and on the other, for ancestors lost in the ocean of emigrants who stepped onto the soil of the beautiful country of Argentina. I would also say magical, sad, happy... All at once, so many emotions in one place. In front of me stood Ricardo Jokanović, the man from whom everything started back in 1999. The man my sister came into contact with. The one who is the main "culprit" for everything that happened later. We finally meet, shake hands, hug. If only Montenegro could see this, if only one milliliter of emotion from this place would spread to all the people in our country. The hatred would stop in an instant I thought. Too idealistic. The whole Deretić family is coming, Melvin, Pablo, Miloš... They ask me about Bijela, the birthplace of their grandfather. They talk to me with pride about their homeland, list the words that their grandfather taught them. The Lakovići, Ćetkovići, Vuletići, Filipovići are also coming.... Our ambassador is also there. Finally, we have someone who builds relations with the diaspora in the right way in this country, which is so important for our small country, someone with whom you can talk, cooperate and, most importantly, build. Someone who has enough of a constructive spirit to leave behind a solidly built foundation. Unfortunately, neither he nor I on my part, nor any other individual or even an institution individually, can hardly have enough strength to make that decisive run. It is necessary for the state to do something more in order to initiate cultural exchange in order to revive relations between Montenegro and Argentines who are originally from Montenegro. We'll see, soon everything will be known.
