Five Montenegro Galleries in 2026: Addresses and Hours

Five galleries reveal Montenegro’s contemporary art scene across Podgorica, Herceg Novi, Kumbor, Cetinje and Budva. They include public, museum and private venues. Their current addresses, opening information and admission arrangements vary, so each stop needs its own plan.

A gallery brand can operate more than one space, while a museum can run several galleries. Event announcements apply to specific dates and do not replace routine opening hours. The visitor details below were current on 30 August 2026.

Five different gallery models

These venues span municipal, national-museum and private-gallery models. Admission policies and visitor information therefore differ. Free entry for a particular event does not establish a venue’s everyday policy, and temporary exhibition dates should always be read separately from routine opening hours.

1. Gallery Centar and MSUCG

Montenegro’s government created the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro in March 2023, transferring the former Center’s staff, property, rights and obligations to the new museum. The museum uses the abbreviation MSUCG.

The current Podgorica tourism listing calls the venue Gallery Centar – PI Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro and gives Njegoševa 2, telephone +382 20 665 409, weekday hours 09:00–21:00 and Saturday 10:00–14:00. MSUCG’s own 2026 news also calls the room “MSUCG Gallery (Njegoševa 2).” The museum’s main contact address, however, is Kruševac bb. Those are not interchangeable pins.

Programming moves among several MSUCG spaces. Its 2026 national survey, Montenegro Today 2026, was announced across Dvorac Petrovića, Perjanički dom, the MSUCG Gallery and the ULUCG pavilion, involving 94 artists. That is the clearest reason to read the exhibition page before setting out: the museum name identifies the organizer, while the event listing identifies the room.

The tourism listing publishes routine hours; a March 2026 museum notice advertised free admission to a particular guided tour. Do not convert that one event’s free entry into a permanent museum-wide price promise. Confirm the current exhibition, venue and admission together. 2. Josip Bepo Benković is active, but routine hours remain unclear

The official Herceg Novi tourist organization places the Josip Bepo Benković Gallery at Marka Vojnovića 4 in the Old Town. It publishes the telephone numbers +382 31 324 051 and +382 31 322 080 and the email [email protected]. The page explains the building’s art-school history and the gallery’s exhibition role, but it does not give dependable everyday opening hours.

Herceg Novi municipality issued a formal call for the gallery’s 2026 exhibition program, and the city tourism site scheduled a September 2026 comic-festival exhibition there. Routine walk-in hours are not published with those dated programs.

Call or email with the date and the exhibition title. Ask whether access is step-free from Marka Vojnovića and whether photography is permitted. Herceg Novi’s steep Old Town makes the route question important even when the door itself is accessible. 3. Pizana is in Podgorica and Kumbor, not Tivat

Pizana’s current official site lists two branches: Hercegovačka 60, Podgorica, and Portonovi Resort, Kumbor. It does not list a Tivat location. The current contact is [email protected] and +382 69 021 882.

Pizana describes a Podgorica gallery of more than 200 square metres and a multimedia gallery space in Kumbor. Portonovi’s official page publishes winter hours for the Kumbor branch as Monday–Saturday, 14:00–21:00. It does not publish a matching summer timetable. Select the branch, check the season and contact the gallery. The two locations may have different hours and exhibitions.

Pizana does not publish a universal admission policy. Ask whether the planned exhibition is open to walk-ins and whether a private event changes access. 4. Atelje DADO has conflicting official visitor pages

Atelje DADO occupies the former studio of Montenegrin artist Miodrag Đurić Dado at Dvorski trg bb, Cetinje. The National Museum says the studio became a gallery in 2002 and was conceived for contemporary projects by established and emerging artists. Its two official pages currently publish conflicting visitor information.

The National Museum’s English Atelje DADO page publishes hours of 10:00–17:00 and free admission. Its Montenegrin visitor page says Zatvoreno za posjetu—closed for visits—while also showing free entry. Contact the National Museum immediately before traveling and ask specifically for Atelje DADO.

That exact name matters. The National Museum’s Art Museum is a separate, ticketed institution in Vladin dom, and the Montenegrin Gallery “Miodrag Dado Đurić” is another exhibition venue. In May 2026 the museum announced Threads of Continuity at the Miodrag Dado Đurić gallery, not at Atelje DADO. A search result containing “Dado” can therefore lead to the wrong room.

5. Modern Gallery “Jovo Ivanović” has the clearest visitor information

Budva Museums and Galleries publishes a complete visitor listing for the Modern Gallery “Jovo Ivanović” at Cara Dušana 19 inside Budva Old Town. The institution gives +382 33 451 343, [email protected] and free admission.

The current hours are unusually specific: Monday 08:00–14:00; Tuesday–Friday 08:00–14:00 and 17:00–21:00; Saturday and Sunday 17:00–21:00. The split weekday schedule matters. Arriving at 15:00 on a Wednesday is not the same as arriving during a continuous nine-to-five day.

Budva’s official tourist organization dates the gallery to 1972, when it opened with the exhibition Contemporary Expressionists, and describes a collection of 218 drawings, watercolors, prints and sculptures. That historical count belongs to the collection, not to the number of objects visible on any visit. Ask which rooms are open and which exhibition is installed.

Practical planning: split the galleries across three days

These locations make a single-day circuit impractical. Podgorica and Cetinje form the most coherent central pairing. Budva can be a separate coastal stop. Herceg Novi’s Old Town and Pizana’s Kumbor branch fit a western-bay day, but only after both venues confirm access. Pizana Podgorica can instead join the capital day.

Driving times vary with border traffic, coastal congestion, parking and road works. Public-transport connections also require date-specific checks. Build each day around one confirmed exhibition and treat the second gallery as optional.

A five-question gallery check

1. Which exact venue? Repeat the gallery name and street address.
2. Which exhibition? Ask for its title and final date, not merely whether the institution is open.
3. Which hours on my date? Mention the weekday and any public holiday.
4. What does access require? Ask about admission, stairs, lift, accessible entrance and toilet.
5. Can plans change? Request the best same-day phone number and check again before departure.
