Savina
A monastery of three churches on a wooded shoulder above the bay, rebuilt by monks who arrived from Tvrdoš in 1693 — and the one place in Herceg Novi where the water is something you look down on.
Savina is the eastern edge of Herceg Novi, a wooded shoulder above the bay built around its monastery. Three churches stand here: the Small and Great Churches of the Dormition inside the enclosure, and the Church of St Sava on the hill above. Monks displaced from Tvrdoš arrived in 1693 and led the renewal that produced the Great Church of 1777–99, Korčula stone around an Orthodox plan.

Savina has never been its own polity — the bands are the town’s. The ticks are the monastery’s own, and where tradition and the surviving fabric disagree, both are given.
