Tomaševo

Tomaševo is a small village in inland Montenegro, spread over quiet hills away from the main tourist routes. The houses stand apart from one another along the slopes rather than clustered around a square, each with its own plot of land, and that pattern tells you most of what you need to know about how the place has always worked: this is farming country, and the village is the sum of its farms. Stone-built houses, some old and some rebuilt on old foundations, sit among meadows, plum and apple trees and stands of beech and oak.
